FAO/FTA Consultations on “Framework methodology for vulnerability assessments of forestry” and “Supplementary guidelines for addressing forests in National Adaptation Plans”
Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), Friedrich-Ebert-Allee 40 (Saal A), Bonn, Germany
9.30am-12.30pm and 2pm-5pm
Following a request from the FAO Committee on Forestry in 2016, the Forestry and Climate and Biodiversity Departments of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the CGIAR Research Program on Forests, Trees and Agroforestry (FTA) are collaborating to develop a Framework methodology for vulnerability assessments of forests and forest dependent people and Supplementary guidelines for addressing forestry and agroforestry in National Adaptation Plans.
While the framework aims to provide guidance to practitioners conducting vulnerability assessments, to ensure that all critical areas are considered and to facilitate the choice and use of appropriate tools and methods, the objective of the supplementary guidelines is to facilitate intersectoral policy dialogue that fully integrates forests and trees in adaptation planning of all sectors.
The purpose of the consultations organized during SBSTA 48 is to gather feedback on a first draft of the framework and of the proposed outline for the supplementary guidelines, as well as insight on the needs of practitioners and examples of good practices for both documents.
People who wish to participate in these consultations are invited to register here before April 26, 2018, so that the documents can be sent in advance of the meeting.
Lunch will be provided from 12.30pm – 1.45pm. For directions on how to arrive from the World Conference Center, please click here.
