Indonesia has more mangroves than any other country in the world – more than 2.9 million hectares that store one third of the world’s coastal carbon stock. With this potential, mangroves are Indonesia’s best hope for slowing climate change. CIFOR Principal Scientist, Daniel Murdiyarso talks about what needs to be done to protect the archipelago’s mangrove forests.
