Species Thesaurus
The Species Thesaurus is a species information portal comprising taxonomy and species characteristics. It aims to describe each species by concept or semantic relation in a wide range of topics that can be browsed alphabetically or searched by relevance ranking. Utilizing the strengths of web semantic techniques, the Species Thesaurus tries to connect linkages between each species’ characteristics and multiple fields.
Constructed based on the Agroforestry Species Switchboard (http://www.worldagroforestry.org/products/switchboard/), the Thesaurus currently contains 172,395 plant species and 3979 taxa in documents at intraspecific levels.
Structured in four categories, the Thesaurus provides information on taxonomy, distribution, conservation status, properties, and links where species information is described further by other organizations
